8/1/2023 0 Comments Thanos the hand of fate![]() ![]() ![]() Having seen exactly 14,000,605 possible timelines, Strange gravely informed the others that only one timeline ended in Thanos' defeat. ![]() The Avengers and the Guardians of the GalaxyĪwaiting Thanos' arrival, Iron Man, Spider-Man, and the Guardians attempted to formulate a plan of attack, while Strange activated the Time Stone to view all possible outcomes and futures of the coming battle. However, after a tense standoff, both parties realized they shared the same goal, before deciding to work together to ambush Thanos, who they expected to be arriving soon. The Guardians raided the Ship and attacked the Avengers, each believing the other to be working for Thanos. Shortly after, the Q-Ship carrying Iron Man, Strange and Spider-Man crash-landed on the barren planet. Unaware of Gamora's death, the remaining Guardians, acting on a tip from the escaped Nebula, landed on Titan with the aim of ambushing Thanos there. The Guardians and the Avengers in a stand-off However, to fulfill the price required to obtain the Stone, Thanos reluctantly sacrificed Gamora to the Stone. To prevent Thanos from torturing her captive sister Nebula, Gamora revealed the location of the Soul Stone to be on Vormir. However, the Guardians were themselves outwitted, resulting in the capture of Gamora, who held crucial information that Thanos required, the location of the Soul Stone. Splitting up, Star-Lord, Mantis, Drax the Destroyer, and Gamora attempted to ambush Thanos on Knowhere to prevent him from taking the Reality Stone. However, in lieu of returning the Ship to Earth, Iron Man decided to continue on their course to Titan in a gambit to ambush Thanos directly in his own territory, where he would not be expecting an attack, and to protect Earth from further collateral damage.Įlsewhere, the Guardians of the Galaxy were on a separate quest to stop Thanos. However, the Ship was unknowingly boarded by Iron Man, Spider-Man, and the Cloak of Levitation, who, in a brief conflict, managed to release Strange and kill Maw, commandeering the Ship. Taking them back to his Q-Ship to bring to Thanos, Maw sets the Ship on an automated course for Titan. The Black Order split up to complete this task Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian head straight for the Sanctum Sanctorum in New York City to retrieve the Time Stone from Doctor Strange, while Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive chose to hunt for the Mind Stone that is currently possessed by Vision.ĭuring the attack on the Sanctum, Maw managed to immobilize and capture Strange and the Time Stone, which was protected by a magical seal conjured by Strange. Intending to personally retrieve the Reality Stone from the Collector, Thanos tasked the Black Order with obtaining the Mind and Time Stones on Earth, before bringing them to him on his homeworld, Titan. Having recently obtained the Power Stone from Xandar, Thanos attacked the Statesman, murdering half of Asgardians and Sakaaran Rebellion and obtaining the Space Stone from Loki. Thanos' identity as a warlord made him one of the most powerful and feared beings in the universe even before he had collected any of the Infinity Stones, and throughout his ferocious crusade across the cosmos, the Mad Titan displayed some very impressive feats of power."I'm not so sure if it's a better plan to fight him on our turf or his, but you saw what they did, what they can do. This origin seems to have been changed for the MCU, though Thanos was still confirmed to have originated from Titan, and Eros in Eternals' post-credits scene was still referred to as Thanos' brother. In Marvel Comics, Thanos is of Eternal descent but carries the Deviant gene, which gives him his deformed appearance compared to the other Eternals. While Damion Poitier originated the role in The Avengers' post-credits scene, Josh Brolin portrayed the Mad Titan from Guardians of the Galaxy onwards, culminating in the epic events of Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, which saw Thanos go toe-to-toe with Earth's Mightiest Heroes in a battle for the fate of the universe. Unlike Kang the Conqueror, the primary villain of the MCU's Multiverse Saga, Thanos' presence in the MCU was built up slowly over a number of years before his full debut as a villain in Avengers: Infinity War. Throughout the MCU's Infinity Saga, Thanos displayed his incredible power level several times. ![]()
